Video Games

playing video games

I thought that Jonas would outgrow the fact that he can't stand still while he plays video games. He's been jumping since he was two years old. No one can claim that he doesn't get exercise while he's playing video games.

Guilt

March Journal

Today was the last day of school. I was very brave, and didn't cry once. I might of skipped saying good bye.. but I didn't cry. :) Jonas was crying this morning. Our mornings in this household are a bit rough sometimes, so this isn't rare, but I think today, it was a bit more about leaving school, and less about getting on clean clothes. I did ask him what was wrong, and he told me that he needed ice cream toppings, and he forgot to tell me.

I dropped off paperwork at a bank after work today. Hopefully I will hear from them soon, and get a go ahead for the house. If not, I have several back up plans. We should be able to tell the builders to go ahead within a week though. That's good. A roof is nice.

Life

fun day

I've been too busy lately stressing about the unknown in front of me, to enjoy life around me right now.

So, here's what's been going on that's good in my world.

The kids had fun day at school this week. A new twist to this year's fun day, was that the military was there, passing out MREs and letting them hold dummy guns. The MREs had matches in them. So, matches and guns. That's fun. The next day, the gideons were at school, passing out bibles. Oh public education, I love you.

We are going shopping for a garage tomorrow. The perfect garage. One we can envision ourselves being happy with for a LONG time. It turns out some mortgage companies don't think garages are adequate living spaces. So, we will work around that obstacle. It should be fun times though. Small road trip.

Caleb had a friend stay the night last night. It's always nice to have extra kids in the house. At one point, Alex had a friend over. That's a lot of boys.

Alex has a birthday party this afternoon. When he went to this kid's party last year, he came home and declared it was the best party he had EVER been too. It must be good.

We have a three day weekend ahead of us. Ready to be enjoyed.

Worth a shot

st. joseph

The house has been on the market for 7 weeks now. We've lowered the price. I'm *still* tired of making my bed every morning.

Last night, I buried a statue of St. Joseph. I hope the fact that I'm not Catholic won't bother the saint. I got a call, they're showing the house today. So far, the statue's working good.

In other good news, I have a good lead on a job. I emailed a greenhouse near where we're moving, asking if they had any job openings. I gave my history, my resume, ect. I got email back this morning, that yes, they should have openings, to call as soon as I get moved, so we can get together and talk. Very promising.

Thursday Afternoon

piano

Alex told me, since we'll be seeing his great-grandma this weekend, he'd better practice. I'd had that same thought about my own music. Great minds think alike.

trumpet

Caleb's only homework this evening was band practice. He was sent out to mow the lawn afterwards. It's getting tall, and he won't be here this weekend. The rain has made for a lot of mowing. Our "new" mower, is near impossible to start. Last time he mowed, he stopped it about 5 times, to take a break. I told him today.. I'm NOT starting it again. No breaks. Yell if he needs a drink, and I will deliver it.

book

Jonas requested an "easy" book. This book is laugh out loud funny. I read it at work, and got looks, when I started laughing. I ordered it right after I finished it. Jonas was giggling while he was reading it as well.

In other news.

The house hasn't shown for 6 days. I'm sick of the house selling process. I really don't enjoy any part of it.

We're now discussing the option of building a garage, and living there, while this house sits here forever. Then, if/when it sells, we can then build a house. Caleb gave us a long monologue yesterday..

As we popped in the morton building dvd to watch, I explained that this was the TYPE of building we were looking into, but this was the name brand, and we were going to go with generic.

Caleb walked off in disgust.

He came back later, and sat in the window seat, so all eyes were on him. He told us. (I'll have to paraphrase)

You know, our housing situation is really going down hill. First we started out with this awesome floorplan called the Vail. For some reason, that wasn't good enough, so we switched to the Stonehaven. Then, we switched to the AWESOME place that looked like Old Faithful Inn. Then it went downhill. We were going to go with some dinky place, with a tarp for a roof (Heather here: We learned later, that he didn't know what a Cape Cod roof was.. he assumed tarp). Then, we went to an even smaller house, but at least it had a roof. But now we're talking about living in a GARAGE! A GARAGE!

Here's what I think is going to happen. I don't even think we'll be living in a garage. I think, we're going to go to the landfill and find the best cardboard box we possibly can find, and THAT is what we'll end up living in.

Someone at work mentioned that duct tape would probably help keep the skunk spray smell out, while we're sleeping in our boxes.

Big Head

absorbed in the book

One of Jonas' journal entries in his April journal:

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban rocks! I (being one of the best readers in class) am on chapter eleven.

Oy.

A day early

book

This book is being released tomorrow. I found it tonight. I am quite pleased.

My cousin's daughter recommended this series to me. Her eyes sparkled, as she told me how wonderful it was, that Greek Gods and their children live amongst us in these stories. She then proceeded to read me the table of contents, because it as just as good as the story.

I recommended the first book to a student last week. As we went back to class, he was reading the table of contents, and just giggling. That made me smile.

Kids are handy

mowing

Just when I thought life was good, and relaxing... now I get to sit here, and listen to my lawn being mowed for me. Ahh. Relaxing.

I figure I was probably 12, when I started, because that's when Kevin left for college, so they needed the next kid to start mowing. So, he's off. Mowing. I did mention to him, that once he gets good at this skill, he can sell his services to other people. He really liked that idea.
