Eventful Day
Our house was shown today! It bugs me that I don't know what the reaction of the viewers were. What did they like/dislike. If they didn't like it, what would of made the difference for them to like it? Our house is such a love/hate deal. I think someone will come, and instantly fall in love with it. Perhaps it was the people that looked tonight. I'll try not to get my hopes too high.
Our water heater stopped working yesterday. Great timing. The propane company came and tried to relight it, and it didn't work. He knows what it needs though. So, he'll come by tomorrow and fix it. Hopefully that won't cost too much. We do happen to have two hot water heaters though, so one bathroom still has toasty warm showers.
Tonight was Jonas' last night of medicine. He's been medicated for 6 years now. He's a happy little fellow. Hopefully it will be successful, and we will never see another seizure again.

Trim
I've become quite the expert on trim work. A bit too much. I started out nervous.. now I whip out my miter box, and go at it.
Here is the hallway:
Caleb's bedroom, would also look like this.
Next, is the bathroom doorway.
This has fancy things at the top corners, and the bottom. Fancy, I'm telling you. This is on both the inside and outside of the bathroom door.
Next, there was a funky spot, between the hallway and the large bedroom. A gap in the ceiling, a gap in the drywall. Weird. So, I took a 1x4, and trimmed it out. It fit PERFECTLY. I will paint it tomorrow.
Finally, was my project for today. The master bedroom doorway.
Who made that pillow crooked? Not me, that's for sure. Anyway, this doorway (This is the finished photo), had no trim before. The drywall edge was showing, and peeling away. So, I bought some nice trim, to go around the corner of the drywall. But, what I really want to show you, is how the quality of work has gone up! I did a mitered corner! It didn't work out perfect, so I filled it in with wood filler. I will paint tomorrow. For now, enjoy my 45° corners.
Impressive, eh?
Unrelated content time:
Jared is teaching Jonas college algebra. And, Jonas thinks it's fun. They were actually TALKING about the math, when Jonas started laughing. That's how much he loves math.

Another year older
Happy Birthday to my not too shabby brother.
In other, unrelated news, a storm is brewing. My co-workers are convinced we're having a snow day tomorrow. I think that's a bit far fetched, but never the less, it would be nice. A day off. Sleeping in. I wouldn't have to rush, to make my bed!
I need to go cover my plants. I just took off my shoes. Life's rough.

Making the Bed
I'm not a morning person. I stay up too late. I hit the snooze button for over an hour. I roll out of bed, not really ready to attack the world.
Now, to top it off. I have to make the bed every morning, so the house shows better. I have to wipe down the bathrooms and kitchen. I vacuum up dead ladybugs that I spot in the hallway. I rush around.
The kids got hot breakfast AND hot lunch today, because I didn't have time to make my bed and pack their lunches.

Parent Teacher Conferences
We had parent teacher conferences this evening. The kids are all good. Nothing we didn't know. No surprises. We've really only had one bad conference ever. We were caught off guard. Told our wonderful son, wasn't so wonderful. We considered home schooling. We pondered what was happening. We left that school district. We did finish out that year, we stayed one more year. We just left before the next kid would reach that same grade level. The school had many wonderful teachers, just a grade level of teachers we didn't think worked with our kids.
But I'm off track.
The kids did great. They each got to pick out one book at the book fair as a reward for their wonderful conferences. We do this every time. I am not sure how a kid would take it, if they had a bad conference, and didn't get their book. Hopefully we'll never have to find out.
Caleb handed me his book first. Picked it out in less than a minute.
Alex took a bit longer. Wavering back and fourth. But, in the end, settled on a good book.
Ahh, you're seeing the pattern here, aren't you. Last but not least, Jonas picked out his book.
It was not easy to get them to pose with the books. They didn't see the "blog appeal" in the fact that three kids, ages 7 to 12 all picked the EXACT same book! Anyway, they got straight to work, filling out their journals (NOT a diary).

Spring
We got word from Jonas' neurologist that his EEG was normal. This means no more medicine for him. Exciting times. He's very happy.
We got a nice spring storm today. That should help our lawn and flowers lure the buyers in.

Spring Break
We spent a few days at my folks' house this week. Jared had a job interview. We planted some trees. We relaxed, after spending way too much energy getting our house ready to sell.

Productive Day
I've had a mighty productive day. The kids have pitched in beautifully. I just had to bribe them with video games, soda, and cookies. I haven't heard a single complaint.
Some changes to the outside of the house, that may not be evident are:
Little things, I'm sure you won't notice:
The front was painted.
The door was scrubbed white.
The windows were cleaned.
The trim around the windows were scrubbed.
There is a new porch light.
Flowers were planted under that window, pansies.
Hanging basket was added
Three pots of flowers were added.
The sidewalk was swept.
I'll add more flowers, as they become available.
I will also add some cedar clippings in the hanging basket, hidden, for good smells.
I've also gotten a lot done on the inside. Bathrooms scrubbed, for instance. I know they can be better, but, it is a wonderful start. All but one window is clean. I forgot it. I decided to cross that off my list anyway. The kids picked up the yard. Most of that stuff is now stored in the basement. The trim around the door has a nice white coat of paint. Three of them, as a matter of fact. Alex gave the dogs a bath. That has really freshened up the laundry room!
Now, left, is pretty much the laundry room, and the master bedroom. I have some more yard work to do. It's a bit overgrown out back. Progress though. Progress is good.

Tuesday To Do
Here's my extremely cute niece, ready to hit me with the ball again. It was hard taking photos *while* playing catch.
Tomorrow is the last day to get the house presentable before the realtor comes. I've made a to do list.
- Scrub both bathrooms
- Declutter laundry room
- Clean laundry room floor
- Paint door trim
- Patch hole in wall
- Finish clearing master bedroom
- Hang dandelion
- Laundry
- Gather toys/balls out of yard
- Pick up yard
- Plant flowers
- Fill in water garden
- Clean windows
- Give dogs a bath
- Scrub front door
Then, Wednesday morning, I'll vacuum, insist the kids make their bed, dust, and do one last wipe down of all of the surfaces.
In the mean time, Caleb's been begging to have a friend stay the night. Tomorrow night is pretty much our only free night. So, an extra kid, and a lot of chores. It should be a *fun* day of spring break!

Big Bubbles
My parents gave Alex this kit to make giant bubbles. I had a bit of a panic moment, as I realized we needed a big bucket. Luckily, I haven't cleaned out the shed yet.
I think it poses a great photo taking opportunity. I just didn't capture it here. Alex is sick of having his photo taken all of the time, claimed I was putting too much pressure on him, and the yard needs to be cleaned up from our gathering.
Maybe another time, I can get the perfect photo.
