Happy Halloween
Happy Halloween to all! We were the only Uncle Sam, Harpo Marx, and Link we saw all night. One house even guessed all three costumes correctly! We ran into the former manager of Godfather's while we were out and about. Years ago, we at the Godfather's probably 5 times a week. They gave us good prices, we had punch cards, ect.. it was cheaper to eat there than to buy groceries. Both Alex and Jonas were taken there their first day home from the hospital after birth. We ate there a LOT. They went out of business.
So, it was good to see him.

Done
Three costumes. All finished. Here is child number three. Trying it on. I had to redo the pants three times today. I am sick of costumes. I was going to skip the scabbard, but, he told me in a very sad voice "No one will know who I am!" So, he now has a place to store his sword. He gets to dress up at school tomorrow, so I had to get it done.
Thanks to my wonderful brother, for cutting out the saw and sword. They are mighty cool accessories.
(He's Link, by they way)

With the upcoming karate tournament, I felt I needed a new lens for my new camera. It arrived in the mail today. What a happy happy day. Now I can sit on the couch, and manage to take close up shots of games that are across the room!
Alex's costume is now done. No photo yet. I bet he'd be willing to pose tomorrow. I had a hard time finding white pants for Jonas. I ended up with scrubs. I'll hem them, perhaps take in the legs a bit, make them more sized for him. I also need to finish painting a sword for him. Then, it's pretty much done. He needs a scabbard, but I probably won't get around to that. I can only do so much.

My Sunday
I finished Brisingr early this morning, and then got straight to work on Halloween costumes. I worked on them for about 10 hours straight. Caleb's is 100% finished. Both Alex's and Jonas' need a few finishing touches. I'll pick them up when in town tomorrow for karate. But, the sewing is all done. Unless I can't find white pants for Jonas. I'm sure I will though. Now I'm rambling.

Food planning committee
While at work on Thursday, one of Alex's classmates came up to me, and explained that she, Alex and some other kids were on the food planning committee for their class' fall party, and could I please make Surprise Cookies for the party. I told her absolutely I could, then asked, why didn't Alex ask me. She shrugged, told me she had no idea, then agreed with me, that Alex should be in BIG trouble for not asking himself.
Yesterday, while grocery shopping, I told Alex about this conversation. He smiled shyly, and asked "So you'll make them?" Although, he's changed his mind, and now wants Ooey Gooey Butter Bars*. I told him, that I should probably stick with the Surprise Cookies, since his friend requested them first, and she even remembered to ask.
*I got this recipe from Jamie, not Paula Deen. But, Jamie doesn't feature it on her blog, so you'll have to get the recipe from Paula Deen instead.

Six days and counting
I still have so much work to do on the costumes. So much. I'm thinking tomorrow, when Jared steals borrows the computer, it will be an excellent excuse to get out the sewing machine and finish up the costumes.
*He's not upset about the lack of work on costumes. His brothers challenged his word in scrabble. It's rough being seven.

Postponing the holidays
I still haven't really started Halloween costumes. I have one small part of Caleb's done, and Kevin kindly cut out the wooden accessories for Jonas. I need to get busy. I'm falling behind. Nine days to go.
So, I need to get with it.

Annoying the kids
I inherited Cheryl's old camera, and I'm in love with it. I took it to karate, didn't read the book, that I stayed up until midnight last night reading, and rather, read the manual, and then started playing around. I only made it half way through the manual, so I have more, much more to learn. I had a blast taking photos, but was a bit to shy to reposition myself for some great action shots. I've never gotten such great bokah before. Oh the lens I need to get now!

Birthday Party Day
We had yet another great birthday party. This was the second time that we've fed everyone dinner. We think it goes much nicer.. a nice relaxed atmosphere. We also played some music. We need to practice more, so we have some new material.
It was nice, the family gathering together. I always enjoy that. The kids enjoy it. Jonas' party, last month, was the first time, we announced, only the birthday kid gets gifts. I think that has been very successful. Not only does the birthday kid do a wonderful job of sharing, the two other kids do a wonderful job of socializing! It's a win-win-win situation.
I didn't get any fabulous photos of Caleb! But, there were a lot of photographers.. so, I should get some later.
So, anyway. A nice day.
update:
