Happy Anniversary (to me)
It's our third anniversary! Ahh, how the years fly. It just seems like yesterday, standing next to the lake, taking our vows. I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.

For my dad.
I have been told, that my dad likes to print out my posts, but my posts aren't always very printer friendly. So, I first had to check with Jeremiah, because I lost my password months ago, but after I got a new password, I was set!
Now, if you click on the title of the blog entry (in this case "for my dad."), it will bring you to a page with just this post. towards the top.. you will now have the option to "print this post". It will then bring up a very printer friendly page.
That's it. My accomplishment for the evening.

Home sick
Note: This was written yesterday, but apparently, I never posted it. Jonas is all better. He has more energy than he's had in a week, and less runny nose than he's had in a week.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Jonas wolk up this morning, and declared that he came *very* close to throwing up, and that he was about to throw up any minute.
So, I called in sick for the first time ever. The guilt is a bit strong, even now. I only gave them 20 minutes notice, but what can you do?
So, he's watching tv, and I decided to work on graphic arts. Here's what I came up with.. now that I know how to do this, it is so incredibly simple.. oh what will I come up with next?

Two seperate ideas
Two great topics... one post.
I came out of school today, to find Jonas standing next to a bench, on the side of the building.. not far from where we usually meet. I pat his head, and told him hello. He turned around, saw me, and started crying. I got down on his level, and asked him what was wrong, and he just started crying harder. It took about five minutes to get him to calm down enough to tell me what was wrong. It turns out that everyone got a new toothbrush at school today, and he was worried he would have to throw away his old one. That's it. He said that they handed out the toothbrushes at the very end of class, and he started crying right away. He told me his teacher asked if he needed to talk, and he told her no. Poor kid cried until I found him. I assured him, he didn't have to throw away his toothbrush. He cheered up instantly.
I should mention, that his toothbrush plays Y.M.C.A. for two minutes, while he brushes his teeth. He loves his toothbrush. He sings along, while brushing his teeth. The harder you brush, the louder the music.
SECOND
Jared picked tonights dinner. Green bell peppers stuffed with rice and vegetables. Alex watched me make it (It took 4 hours to make, by the way), and stated it looked "disgusting". Caleb asked "Do we have to eat it?" Jonas just shouted "EWWWWW!" as he took his plate, and almost dropped it on the floor.
All three kids did declare, that it was better than they expected. Alex even had seconds.
On a slightly related note, Alex brought home his January journal from school. Two of his entries were "I like meat."

What I want to be when I grow up
So, I'm having a quandary. Many moons ago, I came to K-state, a bright eyed eager freshman, and dived head first into Architecture. My path in life lead me to marriage and my wonderful eldest son, which did not correspond well with Architecture. So, I took some time off from college, and was one heck of a good line cook for to many years. I searched and searched for other opportunities that would not drain all of my time away from my family. I considered Early Childhood Education, but ended up choosing Horticulture. That plan eventually turned into Horticultural Therapy. A very interesting degree, not a *ton* of ads in the paper ask for a degree in Horticultural Therapy. So, the family grew, and I came up with a new plan. To obtain a masters degree online, timed wonderfully, so that I could start work when Jonas started Kindergarten. On paper, that was brilliant. Executed, it has flaws.
See, Jonas started Kindergarten.. just as planned, but I then realized, that any job I got, would not have me home in time for my wonderful sons. It would have me home during summers, again, with my wonderful sons. Sure, I can now make enough money, to make these degrees worth while, but, the money is a trade off for time with my boys.
So, I have a job, right in the school. Days off are the same, we walk to and from school together, I will get to spend all summer with them. Great. But, the pay is dismal. So, I've been researching online.. what to do..
I can get a Master's in Special Education from Fort Hays State University, I can do it online, two years, that's wonderful. But, it won't give me a teaching certificate. I could get a Master's in Elementary Education. Still online. But, again, I do not think that gives me that desired certificate! So, I started looking into a B.S. in Elementary Education... four more years of school... more student loans. I don't think it's worth that! Plus, I really enjoy Special Education. I'm leaning towards the Master's of Elementary Education... assuming that gets me a teaching certificate. But, I need to that to be a guarantee.
So, what to do, that's the question. At some point, I have to many degrees. I just need to make my decisions. What if this new degree is also not *perfect* ? But, I just don't think my job that pays peanuts is the right answer either.

Sick of winter
As I scraped the windshield of the minivan this morning, I have decided that it is time for winter to go away. I'm ready for some warm weather.

Science Fair 2008
The science fair was this evening. The kids were restless this evening, with excitement. Top three in each grade got a free mini pizza from Gambino's, it's hard to top that!
I am proud to announce, that one May boy got that coveted mini pizza. That would be the littlest scientist, and his project "Video Games: Good for your Heart". Alex managed to get perfect scores from one of his judges, the third grade competition was just too tough! Caleb also did very nice, but when he put his board together, he didn't put the items on in the correct order. I think that score is what hurt him. Also, very tough competition... solar ovens made out of pizza boxes and laundry stains.. hard to beat.
I am proud of all three of my boys. It's not easy to take the initiative to do EXTRA work at home for school. No grade was given for any of these projects, it was purely optional.

Science fair crunch time
Three projects, only one computer with a word processor, all due on Thursday. Time's a tickin'. Caleb's batteries STILL haven't ran out. He's still working hard on wearing them out, in the name of science.
Jonas discovered that Super Smash Brothers makes his heart beat the fastest, at 160 beats per minute. Of course, the boy doesn't sit still. He did play Dance Dance Revolution, which gets most people's heart pumping.. but, not him.
Alex found out that only 2 out of 5 family members can detect Diet Coke, when it is placed amongst generic competitors.
Ahh, you've got to love science.

Grandma learns to heely
Teaching Grandma to Heely from Heather on Vimeo.
The boys have such a cool grandma.. despite my dad's disapproval (he was holding a phone, ready to dial 911 the entire time).. my mom borrowed Caleb's heelys, and had her first heely lesson.
