Happy Birthday, Kansas!

I grew up in Missouri. I have no clue when Missouri's birthday is, no clue what the state amphibian is, how many years old it was, what year it was admitted into the union, what the state moto is, or what the state song is.

But, Kansas, wow, they drill it into their heads young. Caleb complained at the beginning of the month.. about how it's January, that means they HAVE to study about Kansas AGAIN. So, here it is.. my kids, telling you all the wonderful state in which they live.

I did have to bribe them, with free video game time, if they participated in this little project.

Party party party

LOL

Little bitty Kaylee celebrated her first birthday today. The boys loved their grandma and grandpa time. It was almost as good as video games! I don't have a photo of Kaylee with her gift we got her, but she did seem to really enjoy it, and I know there are photos out there, I'm sure one will get sent to me. Caleb and I went on a mission, and picked out a wonderful four wheeler, perfect for a one year old. He deemed it girly, but not too girly. After I charged the battery, I tested it, and both Jared and I were *thinking* this is WAY to fast! But, at that exact moment, Caleb complained... "That sure is SLOW." Maybe we're getting old.

*Alex is not in this photo, because he parked himself directly in front of the cakes. It paid off too, because he said he got the biggest piece.

They’re rich

They boys sold their Gameboy SP's. They got $33 each. They ran around the house screaming with joy. They're the richest boys on earth. Today, we're going to the video game store, where they will each buy a new game for their Nintendo DS's. They will test out the games all the way to KC. Fun fun fun. I wonder if they will share with me.

The Ice Storm

Middle Child

I found this in Alex's Journal that he brought home from school. I am fixing the spelling, because it is atrocious.

At first I did not have power, and I was like... VIDEO GAMES!! This commotion was happening for two days! But then... a miracle happened!! I went to my grandparents' house and we got to bring our Nintendo Wii. But on Saturday we got power.

Nothing exciting is happening

Work is the same.

If the kids clean, we'll have another Friday Family Fun night.. but non-competitive, or something, last weeks ended in two screaming kids.

It's too cold to do the outside chores that are driving me crazy. Our Christmas lights are still up. The trees from the ice storm are still scattered all over our yard. It's too cold.

I decided not to give up soda. I love it too much.

Jared and just watched a great movie. 10 Questions for the Dali Lama. I recommend it. I have thought about it every day since I watched it.

Jared says I'm hard to shop for. But, just today, I found yet another thing I want. A Dwight Schrute Bobblehead. I'm always finding something. I must not be *that* hard to shop for. Our anniversary is coming up. A *real* one. I've been dropping some hints.

My brain age is 41

Video Games

I want my own DS. The kids are getting better at sharing. When this photo was taken, they had only had them for one day, and they were *not* quite as good at sharing. It's hard to blame them. I have bought some games for the DS. I have explained to all that will listen, theses are MOM'S games. You may borrow them, if I may borrow your DS. (Not at the same time.) That has worked wonders for their sharing. They are currently sold out of the pink DS, everywhere. I'll just keep asking the kids to borrow theirs for now.

It isn't important if I have the lowest brain age in the family, by the way. Not important at all.

How we pass time in our house

Given as an IQ test with some Japanese job applications:

Rules:

  • the dad cannot be alone with any of the daughters
  • the mom cannot be alone with any of the sons
  • the thief cannot be left alone with any of the family members without the police officer
  • only the police officer, the dad, and the mom can control the boat
  • finally, get everyone across the river
  • go!

Friday Family Fun Night

road trip

My most brilliant idea yet. The bedroom and game room have stayed so clean! I announced early on in the week, that if they were clean on Thursday bedtime, we would have another Friday Family Fun night. They cleaned all week, so it wouldn't be such a last minute rush. (Although, still a bit of a rush).

Now, if only I could motivate myself to clean just as well.

New Belts

New belts

It's that time of year!

Of course, a movie should come within a couple days.. because I love making the videos. But, I have less computer time, because I'm totally addicted to The Office.
