Musical Chairs
So, I've switched jobs before even starting jobs.
Now, I have to call and break it to people that won't want to hear that. But, after I get over that hurdle, it is a much better position for the family. It is in the same school that the kids go to. Hours are wonderful, pay is a bit better, and no gas is needed to get to work.
---edit---
I called and broke the news to my *former* employer who was expecting me on Tuesday. I'm feeling a lot of guilt, but after I get over that, this is so perfect for the family.

Lazy, and proud of it
Today is my last offical day of being a stay at home mom. Starting on Tuesday, I'll be off into the working world. Not sure what the job will be, but that's another story, that will be told in due time.
So, no cleaning for me today, no mowing the lawn, the weeds in the flowers will just have to stay a bit longer, the dishes will wait. Nothing but tv, internet and pure laziness for my last day at home. I might even take a nap.

No more spam
This is a fun blog topic. I'm thinking I can get two or three more great entries with it!
Jeremiah suggested a plugin for me. It is working, (Jamie, let me know if it doesn't work for you!).
So, here's the interesting thing about the fun "write the word" area, that everyone gets to do.. so that you don't get frustrated by the idea of it. You are doing the world GOOD. Old books, that can't be digitized, because they are not clear are being used in this plugin. So, you are helping the world, digitize old books. Wow, thanks for all of your hard work.

Comments and math
UPDATE: I am trying something new.. it's running in the background. Hopefully Jamie will not have problems with it.
I thought my blog entry that mocked all of the google searches that lead to my site was quite humorous. However, a nasty side effect to that entry that I didn't consider, is I typed out all of the things that people are searching for. This leads to more spam comments. The general public doesn't see these comments, because I moderate the comments. But, I assure you the spam is really getting a bit out of control. Several messages a day.
But, that's not the point. The point is spam. Lots and lots of spam. Spam that wants me to buy lots and lots of viagra. (oy, google watch out). So, I've added a new feature. Math. Now, when you comment, you need to answer a very simple math question, to prove you're human.
I thought when I installed it that once you are approved, and no longer need to be moderated, you wouldn't have to answer the math question, but that doesn't appear to be the case. So, this will have to do for now.
Enjoy the blog, comment a lot, and have fun with the math. I'll keep looking for more anti-spam plugins that might be a bit better, but really, it's hard to top math.
A bit of a sidebar, but my favorite of all of the spam comments I got, was this quote. This was also the only tame spam comment I've gotten.

Not on my to do list
While Jonas is in school, I have three hours to run errands. The drive to and from Manhattan eats up one hour. This leaves with two hours, and a very detailed to do list. I plan my route, hit my stores in order, and head out of town. The other day, the first place on my stop was closed (it should of been open though, according to their sign), it was just skipped. No time to turn around.
I arrived at the Riley County Health Center, to get a TB test for the new job just a bit too early, so, I headed to a gas station just minutes away. Very slight rearranging, but, so close, it wasn't going to matter. I prepaid for my gas quickly, went out to the minivan, to find this...

Christmas
It's never to early to plan.
I found a great new idea, and I had to share. Magic Elves.
I'll sum it up for you..
Santa has a hard time keeping track of all of the kids in the world, so he sends out some magic elves to help him out. The elves stay at your house for about two weeks. They come with a letter, telling the kids why they're there. They have a passport, and they have a journal. The journal is to keep track of the kids' behaivor. When Santa comes on Christmas eve, he takes the elf home with him, after receiving his report.
Now, unfortunately the elves are a bit mischevious. They tend to cause problems at night while the kids are asleep. They fall asleep in strange places, and the kids need to find him every morning, to see if he left them a note, or to read what he wrote about them in his journal, or sometimes he has a small gift for them.
One website reported, that their elf borrowed the family car, to go to Wendy's! The kids found him the next day, in the drivers seat, propped up on pillows, the car at the end of the driveway, with Wendy's trash next to him.
We might just need an elf to visit us this year.

Band on the brain
Warning: Don't have your sound too loud for this one!
Band is the topic of the week. Caleb tried out Jared's clarinet, to see if clarinet was his calling. Yesterday at school, he got to try out a saxaphone, and reported that it squawked very nicely, and perhaps that is the instrument for him. He's leaning towards the trumpet though.
We were told that the band teacher sprays the mouthpieces with some green spray between kids. Jared suggested that Caleb might want to go with the drums, so he doesn't have to share spit.
I told Caleb, that if he sticks with band, he can be in the marching band, and go to all of the football games, even in college. Jared pointed out, that I would be there too, watching my little boy. I agreed... I'll take photos, movies, and blog about it.
EDIT: This blog entry took an incorrect turn.. but, that's ok. I meant to mention, how we were all playing music last night. I have to practice my chording skills for Saturday night. My fingers are killing me, but I have three chords memorized. We have a band meeting tonight, but should have time to work in yet another music session, where I can learn more chords.

Neurology is the field to be in
I'm thinking, that if you want a career that has high demand, pediatric neurology is the way to go. I was feeling mighty spiffy, I wanted an appointment for Jonas with the neurologist, and I wanted it on a day off from school. I needed USD 383 and USD 378 to both have the day off. So, October 19th was my target. So, I called today, nearly TWO MONTHS in advance. Nope. Booked solid through November 7. Veterans Day was still available though. Three months waiting list, for an appointment where we'll see the doctor for about 10 minutes total. (We will get to wait for over an hour though in the waiting room.. if the past is any indication.)
I was able to get an appointment for a routine checkup for the 19th in Manhattan though. So, it wasn't all bad.
