Today, while Jonas was in preschool, I stopped by the library, to use their computers. One person next to me was listening to music so loud, I could sing along, if I desired. The person across from me was talking on her cell phone. The music listening guy then decided to start texting people... beep beep beep beep beep beep beep. So much for the quiet library.
The boys test for their next belts in karate tonight. In all our years of karate, I've never witnessed a testing. Parents are not suppose to watch class, and most sensi's really enforce that on testing day. I don't recall of our current one does or not. Anywho.. since I am the class secretary, starting this semester, I get the honor of watching testing. Fun eh?
One of Jonas' classmates brought a webkinz for sharing today. Jonas was mighty excited about that. His plan was to add every poodle he saw to his friends list, since he didn't know her user id, but, I just emailed her mom, and saved him some of the work.

Zoos are fun
Jonas' class field trip to the zoo was today. They are studying the letter Z this week. They got to touch several animals. The guy giving the presentation was VERY good. It was a nice time.
On our drive, to take another classmate home, there was a debate, on Santa Claus. Some background... at the library, during story time, in December, Santa came to visit. This boy, that was in the car.. his dad happened to be playing the part of Santa that day. This boy's mom, told him, afterwards, that it was really his dad, but not to tell anyone.
So, we have a little toy in our car, that Santa gave to Jonas at story time.
This other boy, told Jonas, that it was REALLY his DAD that gave it to Jonas. Jonas then asked "You live at the NORTH POLE?!?!" The other boy.. explained.. no, he didn't, that there wasn't really a Santa, that it was his dad, in a costume. Jonas told him, that he SAW Santa, so he knows he's real. The other boy then stated, that no, it was his dad, and Jonas' mom and dad are probably really Santa at our house. Jonas then retorted "We don't live at the north pole!".

Crazy cold
Typically I follow the suggestion to wait until May 1 to plants flowers. April 15 is the last average frost date for our region, but May 1 is the recommended planting date. I decided to plant one measly week early.
I am working on my wonderful hillside garden. Jared dug up a TON for me, while the boys and I were at karate on Monday night. I bought more plants yesterday, and now it's too cold for me to want to go out and work. I'm very hopeful that it will warm up a bit more this afternoon.

I want one!

Found here. So.. what is it, you ask? A storage device for stuffed animals. We are overrun by stuffed animals in this house. You stuff them in this bag, and it turns into an instant bean bag chair. Environmentally friendly too, because there is no foam fillers. It was invented by a mom too! Go figure.

Mood Swings
My mom came to visit the kids at school today. Alex loves his grandma so much, he's having some problems, now that she's left.
He spent homework time crying in the floor, because his paper ripped. He was also crying because his eraser didn't work. He went to play webkinz, after finishing his homework, and instead got caught up in some game with his brothers. I heard nothing but laughter, but it was laughter that meant some rules were getting broke. I went to take a photo, for blogging purposes, but, that interupted something wonderful.
So, Caleb logged into Webkinz (this is 2 hours, after homework was done), Alex throws a fit. He actually stands in one spot, and screams, and screams and screams.
He misses his grandma.
He's cheered up as of now. We'll see how long it lasts.

It runs in the family
I need to clean today. My parents are coming tomorrow, I never claimed to be a neat person growing up, nor do I now, but I do like to give the illusion, that I maintain a clean home.
However, Jonas wanted to play on webkinz with me, so, we played the computer for awhile. Then, we watched some Handy Manny together. That's when he announced, he wants the website with the blue bird, that he saw on t.v. So, after awhile, I realize, it's Noggin. We fix the kids' link page, to include Noggin. Then, it occured to me, that now that I have my own URL, the kids don't have to look at advertisements anymore. So, I spent like an hour, trying to figure out how to make this page. It's quite ugly. (I should add, that the original kids link page looked quite different before I started... that I tried to make it match my blog's layout.)
So, I added just a page at the top of my blog. Although, that's not what I wanted either.
So, I need to figure out what I want to do. If all else fails, I can describe it to Jeremiah, and he'll direct me. I *think* I can do this on my own though.
As for running in the family... while, I was on the computer, here's what Jonas was doing...
I realized, after working on this project though, I am suppose to mail some packages for Jared. I am the shipping department. So, Jonas and I are going to put aside our electronic toys, and take a walk.
Edited to add: I will be working here, trying to create a page, that goes along with my blog, but is not connected to it, for the kids' computer. It should provide hours of fun, to follow my progress.

The Before Picture
This hill is tied for the worst spot to mow in our yard. The photo does not do it justice. So, I decided I will plant flowers here, and make a wonderful garden to enjoy, and never mow it again. This is the before picture. I'll post the "after" in a few months.
Alex and Jonas were more than happy to help dig the garden.
We have about 1/8th done. I'm hopeful Jared is in the mood to finish the rest. Hint Hint.

Chickens
The dogs were running quite low on dog food (because Dagny tipped over our container, and ate half of it, last time I filled it up), so Jonas and I went into town to get some food. Unfortunately, the kind we buy was on sale, therefore sold out, so we had to go with the "premium" variety, and pay more. I guess they're worth it.
I offered to Jonas, to take him out to eat at McDonalds. A happy meal (4 piece nugget, with a diet drink and small fries) is only 400 calories. Very reasonable. He didn't want McDonald's though, he wanted Famous Daves. With the lunch menu, it was not terribly priced (same as we spend at Arby's), so we did it. Yummy food. We are going to have rice and beans for dinner to offset my high calorie lunch.
We picked up some shuttlecocks at Walmart. I set up a badmitton net last night. We had one birdie for it, but I wanted some extras, just in case we broke the one lone birdie. Jonas was giggling, as we were walking through walmart, thinking... What if we hit a birdie up into the sky, and a birdie ate the birdie. That was funny. Perhaps you had to be there.
We then went to Orscheln's, were I get our dog food. It's spring, anyone out there know what that means at Orscheln's? Yes, you guess it. Baby chicks, ducklings and bunnies. Very, very cute. It brings back fond memories of going to my grandma's farm in the spring time. They had tons of baby animals, but most importantly, on their back porch was always a box, filled with baby chicks that I could pick up and pet. I always thought my parents didn't know how to have a proper farm, not a single farm animal, but Grandma had it right. Plenty of baby chicks.
Well, Jonas get $1 allowance a week. He always makes big plans for what to do with that dollar. Guess what a baby chick costs. Yep, on sale. $1. He begged me all the way home for a baby chick. He explained that it could run around the yard. He mentioned, if we had a pond we could get the duckling. He also pointed out, that if I wanted a caged animal, we could get a bunny (those were more than $1). We'll see if he remembers to ask Jared for a chick, when he gets home from work.

Counting Calories
I was watching the View, as I do many, many times, and Rosie O'Donnell mentioned, that overweight people in her family live to be old (that is a bad misquote... I recognize that). She then stated the age of her grandma was like 72 when she passed away, backing up her statement (again, the age is probably off). My first thought was, that isn't old.
So, the point of this is, I need to lose weight. I'm only 30. Not *that* old. It's not too late to change my dieting habits and become healthy, so that I can celebrate my 90th birthday with my great grandchildren. I decided to count calories. I did my calculations (13-17 calories per goal weight, depending on metabolism and exercise), and got started. I've done this before, but, now I'm using a palm pilot, and writing it down. No guesswork. The numbers say it all. I had the fun of setting up a wonderful spreadsheet that does all of the math for me, it tells me how many calories I have left each day, and I can "bank" the calories, and it tells me how many I've banked, both daily and weekly. I'm going to add one more condition, so, that I can mark down when I exercise, and that gives me bonus calories for that day.
Well, there was a point to all of this, besides healthy living. I was entering in all of the calories at the fast food places that I enjoy frequenting. Wow, no wonder I can't lose weight! I thought Arby's was a decently healthy option. Who knew their fries were over 400 calories for a medium, BEFORE I dip it in cheese sauce. The famous bowl from KFC that I love so much... over 700 calories! Oh my.
At least I'm stuffed, after my small banana for breakfast.

WPASADI
I'm back in!
Some contestants, of this online contest, got upset when they were eliminated. They complained, and the webmaster of the site looked into it. The main problem was, that the rules were never carefully laid out. That's about it. But, in order to be fair, he decided to have a 2nd chance contest. Everyone eliminated throughout individuals, can now get right back in it where they left off. You have the option of redoing every challenge, but that is not required. If you redo every challenge, then your highest of the two scores will be accepted.
Anyway. That's cool. Back in. Jamie told me, I must be destined to win that trip to Disney World.
Jeremiah set me up with a very interesting stats page. My favorite of all of the stats I get to read, about where people are coming from, to visit my fasinating blog, is what people are googling. There were six googles for "WPASADI", 1 google each for about 5 different things about Webkinz, and 1 google for Mary Renee Smith. Now, I guess I just need to have very fasinating blog topics, to draw in the readers, hook them, and then they will buy stuff from my Etsy shop. Then, I could just outright pay for a trip to Disney World.
If you book a trip to Disney World right now (I don't think this is sold out... might be).. and pay rack rate for your room, and travel between August something and September something (I'm a weath of information, eh?), you can get the dining plan for FREE. Yes, that's right. Free food for your entire stay! Oh, and you have to buy at least a one day ticket for everyone in your party. Free food! It's a lot of yummy food. We did the dining plan. It was wonderful. The point of this paragraph, is Jared and I should book a trip to Disney World. Free food!
