Today we had a joint birthday party for Jonas and Caleb. Caleb's birthday is in 2 1/2 weeks, Jonas was two days ago. My mom's was yesterday, so she got some gifts too. The kids all had a blast, hanging out with the family. Everyone raved over my snacks, and even suggested I start doing catering. What a flattering comment. I then had to point out all of the inperfections in my desserts, because they were not perfect, and I just don't see myself selling them.
But, it was a nice afternoon. Everyone stayed longer than normal, everyone visited. Jonas had to visit with EVERYONE before opening presents. So, he went around to everyone and asked "Are you having a nice morning?" Caleb went around and asked "Should we open presents now?"
Oh, and the Geotrax grew, after this celebration.
Stop by and play trains with us, if you're in the neighborhood.

Today was Jonas' special preschool day. He got to pick a prize out of the birthday box, do a little thing where he was the earth, and he had to walk around the sun five times, while his teacher read the story of Jonas. He also got the birthday crown, and cool birthday cushion.
I made a movie of the little skit thing, it will come later, for all of my faithful viewers, it's so big, I have to shrink it down, and my computer went to sleep on the first attempt to shrink it down (I told you it was big).
Last night we enjoyed a wonderful meal out at Wendy's. We had possibly the worst service we've ever had at Wendy's. No one took our order for like 10 minutes, while we could see all of the teenage employees just standing around. The line got very backed up, they messed up my order (forgot my precious fries!), I witnessed that they messed up other people's orders. But hey, it was a yummy meal. I didn't have to cook it, or clean up any dishes, and it came with a yummy fix and mix frosty for dessert. Yum.
We got home, and Jonas wanted to play a fun game of family football. This was decided while I was off getting the mail. I returned to find out I was the number one draft choice in the game (Caleb regretted it later though, I'm not a very good football player). Well, Caleb and I were down by a few touchdowns (I don't keep track of the score, but I'm probably the only one that doesn't.) Caleb was going in for a touchdown, because he's the quarterback, every single time (I did get once chance), my job is to block Jared and Alex. He made it past them, over the line for a touchdown, our second of the night. I took a step backwards, ready to celebrate (and have Alex call a bragging penalty on me), when I stepped in a pot hole, and twisted my stinkin' ankle. I couldn't walk last night, and I'm hobbling around today. I have two birthday cakes yet to bake, before tomorrow, and an entire house to clean. I think I will really rely on those wonderful boys in my family for the bulk of the cleaning. Jared did offer to make the cakes, but I can stand ok, so I think we'll be fine. My mom told me that she's blind to dust, so don't worry about it.
I was playing around with my timer, trying to get the entire family, and somehow, I still managed to not get a single photo of me. I think once I figured out how to do it, I messed up, and did it wrong. Oh well. Next time. My straw bale doubled as a tripod. Perhaps I should dig out the real tripd to avoid the straw in my photos.

Happy Birthday Jonas!
Today my baby turns five. Alex pointed out, that the older they get, the more I refer to them as "my babies". I remember about 9 years ago, my grandma told me, that my uncle just turned 62, and when your child turns 62 it really settles in, that you're getting old. At least I'm not there yet.
We got to pick his birthday. He was a planned c-section. My mom's birthday is tomorrow, but in 2001, her birthday was on a Saturday, and we couldn't plan a c-section for a Saturday, so, we did it as close as we could, she said it still counts. When he was born, the nurse and doctor told us that it was the longest umbilical cord they had ever seen, and that if he had been born "normally" he would of gotten it wrapped around his neck several times.
I look back, and realize, that this is the age Caleb was when Jonas was born, and I expected him to be so big.. because there were two younger ones right behind him. I need to nurture the big kid in Jonas as well.
For all of the duplicate birthdays... Happy Birthday to my mom, who's birthday is tomorrow (but this still counts), happy birthday to Yanina, if you are reading this, you need to write me! Yanina came and visited me and Jonas on the day he was born, and brought us fresh flowers from her garden. The most touching of all of my gifts in the hospital. It was then, she shared with me that it was her birthday too! And to Braylyn. Perhaps that's how you spell it. A very good friends granddaughter. When we worked together, I only heard of how wonderful this little girl was.
Jonas' favorite gift this morning was a package of batteries. He always gets so excited over batteries. Really, that's all he needs in life. We are going to spend the day playing video games and with trains. Alex told Jonas that he picked a very good breakfast.

Today, at Mcdonalds, we were given a girl's toy in our happy meal. I don't think Jonas looks anything like a girl. I was willing to admit that Caleb looked like a girl when he had his long hair, and when all of my boys were around one, they had the long whispy curls, I admit, they looked girly. But, seriously, Jonas doesn't look like a girl.
Today is Jonas' last day of being four. I told him, I don't think five year old's get carried, so, today will probably be the end of being carried. He tells me, that I can carry him for the rest of his life, not a problem.
He's selected french toast and sausage links for his birthday breakfast. I need to get up early to accomplish this. He told me, that it was ok if Dad doesn't want to eat the sausage links. He gets to pick a restaurant to eat out tomorrow for dinner, and someone mentioned something about presents.
But, for today, we'll enjoy being four.

It arrived. Alex doesn't get to wear it again, until he gets his homework done. He's working mighty quickly.
Man, look at that pile behind Alex. That is:
A bag that I need to take the salvation army, Jonas' backpack and jacket which didn't quite make it into the laundry room, two soda cases, that I need to convince Caleb to take out to the trash, a frame I need to throw up in the attic, and a Burger King bag, containing unopened kids toys. I collect the kids toys and donate them to the school carnival, unopened. Better than them ending up in a pile in our house.
But the point is. The goofy hat is here. I only have the shirt to finish up.

It's been awhile since I've posted. So, I'll share a short story about each member of our family to get everyone up to date on our fasinating family.
Caleb:
I went to get the mail the other day, and found a progress report for him in the mailbox. It had many A+'s, two B's, and an F. We discourage B's in our house, let alone an F. So, I was walking back to the house (our mailbox is a bit of a hike away), and Caleb shouted out "any good mail?" I mentioned.. "I got your progress report". Oh his face was priceless. He ran over to me, talking very quickly... "I can explain the F..." He tells us that there's only been one assignment in that class, and he was late turning it in, but he did get it in, and his teacher assures him, that he has an A+ now. So, he was told, never, EVER let that happen again, and get those B's up, while you're at it.
Alex:
Alex beat Jared at our family fantasy football this week. He spends his spare time, logged into the fantasy football website, changing players, trading with people, studying, studying, studying. He announced, that he would like it if we got him a laptop, so he could be with us more. I thought it would be Caleb that got wrapped up in fantasy football, but Alex was so glued to the tv this weekend, rooting for his team, and using Jared's laptop to check the updated scores. Winner gets to pick a restaurant to eat out at. (Jonas and I are on a team, and we beat Caleb, by the way).
Jonas:
His birthday is on Thursday. It blows me away that my baby boy is going to be five. I told him, that he was my tiny baby boy, and he just looked at me, and told me "well, you got the boy part right at least." There is one boy in Jonas' preschool class that is allergic to wheat. Jonas told me that he wants that friend to be able to eat the birthday snack. I thought that was quite sweet. So, I talked it over with that boy's mom, and we are having pudding cups with whipped topping for his snack on Friday.
Jared:
I can't leave him out, or I'll be questioned "does everyone exlude me?". So, here it goes, a heart warming, funny antidote about Jared. Hmmm. Did I mention he LOST his first week of fantasy football? He plays against me and Jonas this upcoming week, and he will LOSE again. (I spelled "lose" right there, I'm told I often misspell it, so I dedicate that spelling to Jared.) Jared also picked our dinner we are having tonight. "Cheesy Harvest Vegetables." He said he might be late for dinner, after I'm going to all this work! I can't really think of anything cute that he's done lately. Maybe he can add something in the comments, that I have forgotten.
Me:
I put together our tunnel slide this past weekend. Our directions for the slide have been left out in the rain for about 18 months. They were stuck closed, and a bit yucky. So, it was an interesting adventure. I had to redo it three times (take it apart and start all over again). Now it just has to be attached to the treehouse, for a fun fun time.
I spent 45 minutes this morning dicing a squash into one inch cubes. Squash is not a tender vegetable. It had to be peeled, and diced, and I knew I was flexing some muscles to get the job done. That point was proved, with my knife snapped right in half. I'm sure it will be yummy though.
I can't seem to shake my cold. I was almost all better last weekend, now, I have a chest wrenching cough, and just hurts. I am going to call in sick today, and just icnore the mess. (It's a hard mess to icnore though.)
That's it. Nothing exciting is happening in the may household, therefore no reason to blog about it. But I check Yahoo 360 daily (multiple times even) to see what everyone else is up to, so I figured I needed to contribute.

Caleb's costume is almost complete. I just need to add some hook and eye fasteners (or something similar).. and he needs a rope for a belt. Only about 30 minutes left of work on my part.
Caleb tried it on, and told me he liked it, and was happy with the slight alterations I made on the pattern, with the shaping of the robe, and I added a collar.. but, he really thought he would look MORE like Sorcerer Mickey. I told him, I couldn't really help that he doesn't have a Mickey face. He also told me, that it must of been easy, because I got it done so QUICK. I just laughed.. I only spent about 12 hours on it, sure.. quick.
Now, I just need to finish up Alex's, and alter an elephant costume for Jonas. And find shoes. Jared tells me, that the shoes make the costume. So, I need two pairs of brown shoes.

No photo to go with this entry, it's too late, and I'm too tired. Plus, I still have Wife Swap and Supernanny to watch.
The boys and I had a very nice, but busy day. I happen to love eating out, so we eat at KFC for lunch, and Burger King for dinner. We were in town, I'm a fun mom, so, we ate out.
After dinner, I was very full from my chicken fries, and fries (I meant to get a sandwich, but, forgot what I wanted, once it was time to order), and we still had one hour to kill before karate, so we went to the city park.
We saw this mom and daughter riding one of those cool tandem bikes that are for kids and adults, they rode all around the park (big park), and then stopped to rest at the playground area. The daughter enjoyed a plum, before playing WITH her mom. The mom wasn't just sitting on the bench, like me, she was swinging, running, and playing with her daughter. Very touching. Anyway, this exercising, plum eating, playing mom... she was thin. Perhaps there's a correlation.
So, here it is, out on my blog, for all of my loyal fans to read. I am going to start counting those calories, and eating healthier, and I am going to loose this extra weight. In my defense, I did loose 20 pounds before going to Disney World, but it's not noticable, I don't know where I lost it from. After the 20 pounds came off, the scale just stopped going down further. So, I just need to loose like 50 pounds, and I'll be set. Here I go. I can hardly wait to have that oatmeal for breakfast. yum yum.

Today Caleb and Alex had the day off from school, and Jonas had preschool, so, we went shopping. We were trying to find Geotrax accessories for Jonas for his birthday, and apparently Manhattan is not the place to find those.
We also bought fabric for halloween costumes. I had to buy for Caleb and Alex's costume. One would think, sewing the costumes would just save us SOOOOO much money. But, I ended up spending $40 on fabric. For two kids. That's a lot of fabric. One of the patterns (for Alex) grouped the top and bottom the same, so, I ended up buying too much for those, I just had to wing it. They assumed I would use one type of fabric for both the top and the bottom, but I am using two colors. The kids took in their stuffed animals, so we could get a near perfect match of fabric color.
We also got started with our fall decorations. We bought a bale of straw for our scarecrow to hang out on, and some small pumpkins and gourds for our mantle, and a fall mum. That pretty much covers it.
I managed to get more of our house painted this weekend. My current goal, is one coat of paint, on the front of the house, before Caleb and Jonas' birthday party, so that it looks decent for the family. I'm semi close. I am almost done with everything I can reach, but then, comes the challenging part, convincing Jared to finish up the job.
We have 2 hours to relax at home, before heading back into Manhattan for eye doctors appointments for 2/3 of the children, we'll have about 1 1/2 hours to kill, then we have karate. What a busy day, for my childrens' "day off".
