Today, I made chocolate candies for Jonas' birthday party. They are coconut and peanut butter filled chocolates shaped like powercats. Jonas taste tested the peanut butter ones, and approved. He then took about 5 minutes to explain to me, that he really needed to try the coconut filled ones to make sure they were ok. If they were not ok, he didn't think we should serve them at the party, so he really needed to try one then.
Caleb played with Jonas the entire time after dinner. They played several different things together, leappad, paper airplanes, chasing each other, and more. They played so beautifully together. It was nice.
Alex played Jared at chess. Jared reports that Alex is VERY good, and will be beating him within a couple of years.

Alex had a soccer game. His team lost, 1-2. He got a yummy snack though, which he refused to share with Caleb, on the grounds, that Caleb has never shared a snack with him.
Caleb does not want to go to football practice on Saturday, because it is just too much work. It is the "fun hour." I questioned, why he played football at recess everyday, if it was so much work. Alex explained that at recess it is touch football. I guess pulling the flags is the work. Caleb didn't appreciate that suggestion.
Jonas was the special birthday boy at preschool today. He got to wear a crown, have a special birthday chair, get a lollypop, and pick a prize from the birthday box. I got to be the special guest. We forgot to pack a sharing item for him, so he shared my cell phone with the class. It wasn't quite as good as his own stuff. The rice krispy treats were a hit.
Caleb forgot his cold lunch today, and paniced all day, that since he had to eat hot lunch instead, that he would loose out on his weekly pick (which is tomorrow). I told him this was his one freebie. Alex now also gets a bonus hot lunch. That made the forgotten cold lunch an expensive forgotten cold lunch.

Happy Birthday to Jonas! I can't believe that my baby is four. He is quick to point out, that he is not a baby. He got a new two wheeler bike, yellow with spongebob on it. He got an aquarium, which we are trying hard to keep living fish in (so far three have died, out of nine). He got a silly hat, a puppy dog that looks like ladybug, and several leappad books. He is happy kid. He got to pick the restaurant for dinner (McDonald's), and we picked up some more fish for the aquarium. He has named them: Sucker, Orange Back, Orange Go, Gup, Upside Down Swimmer (I don't he's going to be around much longer), and then two nameless "glow light touch rays" aka glow light tetras. We played a game of Sorry that was very emotional, one minute thrilled, next minute screaming that someone sorried you.
Tomorrow I get to go into Jonas' preschool to deliver rice krispy treats that we made today, and take photos in of Jonas. It should be fun.

Yesterday were parent teacher conferences. We got glowing reviews on both kids. Caleb told Jared after the conference that he knew Mrs. Garver liked him, but he didn't know she liked him THAT much. Not one bad thing was said about either child. Caleb had all A's, and one B, the B was only one percentage point away from an A. He does all his work, works hard, has good vocabulary, and is a sweet, inquisative child.
Alex is at the top of his class. He is the top reader, almost where he should be at the end of 2nd grade. He excells in math. He gets along great with his peers, and for some reason, isn't bored, even though he knows everything that is being covered.
Jonas was very well behaved during both of the conferences. We have great kids. Alex told me this morning, that they made us proud parents.
We were one hour late to Alex's soccer game. I called parks and rec, and was given the incorrect time that the game started. Alex got about 5 minutes of play time, then the game was over. Hopefully that won't happen again. He took it pretty well, he got a snack still.
Jonas told me today, that I can't take his place in preschool, because there isn't a mat with my name on it.

Today was Alex's first soccer game. They lost 3 to 6, but Alex scored one of the goals, and I am sure that is the only one that counted. I've determined that our garden is done for the year. bugs are eating what little fruit is still being produced, pumpkin vines are dying, and the watermellons never got bigger than a golf ball. Next year will be the bumper crop I'm sure. We did get four good pumpkins. Caleb thinks the store has better, bigger pumpkins, but I enjoyed our four pumpkins.
Tomorrow Jonas and I are going to put together a page for his school photo album that shows him with all of his family members. We should have a good time working on that crafting project.
I picked up a trash can full of sticks in the back yard. They fell off of the elm tree during some wind storms. I only got about 1/4 of them picked up, but I have to leave room for the garbage. I am mentally planning a shade loving flower bed with winding paths for our back yard. the tree filled area is very hard to mow, and I figure I can fill it with flowers. Maybe next year I will get it worked out.

Yesterday Jonas explained to me that there were both girls and boys in his preschool class. But, he loves me and Dad, so, it's ok that there are girls. We went to taco bell for the first time. It has been about 9 years since Jared and I have eaten there. Taco Hut was more of a home for us. It turns out that Taco Bell has many vegetarian items on their menu, who knew. Everyone loved it. Jonas announced that he was going to pick Taco Bell for his birthday restaurant, not McDonalds, because the tacos were just so good.

Today Caleb's football team won their first game. One of his teammates is the granddaughter of Bill Snyder, so, we had Coach Snyder there, at the game. How exciting to have the town celebrity at Caleb's game. We can all pretend that he was scouting. He smiled at Jonas and Alex rolling down a hill as he left.
Alex was introduced as the star player on his soccer team today by his coach. A big day in sports for the May boys.

Tonight, Caleb's last question, before bedtime was "Is Langly a popular last name?". The questions he comes up with. He also shared with me, that if I continued to talk to him about blankies, underwear, and telling him I loved him in public places like the mall, he would not be allowed to play football at school anymore, because the other kids would make fun of him. He is just sure that their mom's don't get lovey dovey with them.
The entire grade school sang the star spangled banner today. Jonas and I got to go watch. Alex invited us, and it was important to him that I went. He was quite pleased when he spotted me. Alex is doing cheerleading camp after school. He told me on Monday, almost in tears, that the hardest part about it, was that he missed me. Going to school for a full day, and then a two hour camp afterwards is too much time away from his mom. He's going again tomorrow though, then he gets to be in the halftime show at the next football game.

Today was Jonas' first day of preschool. He was awefully grown up, hanging up his backpack, finding his mat, and doing everything expected of him. His teacher reported that he is a very sweet boy, and did great. I had no doubts. Several other moms were in tears, leaving their "babies" in preschool. I did not shed one tear. I was strong. I ran so many errands that I had no time to be lonely for my Jonas.

Caleb explained today that the advise that dad gives seems useless, but it turns out that it works.
Caleb got up at 1am this morning, rather than go back to bed, he played with star wars toys until his brothers got up this morning. Crazy kid. He feel asleep three times today, every time we were in the car.
We visited Grandma and Granddad today. Alex is very good with Katie. He gets her to sit, lay down, do jumps and walk over the dog walk. He's very good at everything he tries.
