Caleb has decided that he needs to be the best third grade football player ever. So, he and Jared have been practicing in the evening. He plays football at recess and starts playing on a flag football team next month.
Tonight Alex got a call from "Alex Nelson". It was pretty cute, hearing a little voice in the phone, "Is Alex May there?". They are trying to arrange a playdate. I will need to get ahold of a mom and get something worked out.
Jonas loves to play catch. He puts on his mitt and walks all over the house with it, carring his ball, waiting for someone to go outside and play catch with him. He would sleep in it if I let him.
Today Jonas and I made a trip to see Becky for lunch. It was a nice time. Jonas thinks it is a very fun house to go visit, and I enjoy the adult conversation that takes place.

Today was the first day of school for Alex and Caleb. Caleb came out of school with a huge smile on his face, it made me think we did the right thing by moving to Riley, and having the kids switch schools. Both boys told endless stories about their day when we got home. They both enjoyed school tremendously.
Jonas and I got to play games and go shopping together. I don't think he missed having his brothers around, he liked the quiet house, and having his mom all to himself.

I just learned today that tomorrow is the first day of school, rather than Thursday. The poor kids lost their last day of summer vacation. I find it unbelievable that I have such troubles knowing when to take the kids to school, and when half days are. But, there are only two early release days this year, so we should be set. Alex is very excited about starting school, and Caleb is worried that kids will think he is a punk with his hair, but yet he is not willing to cut his hair. They will both do fine. Jonas and I will have to manage just to two of us, all day tomorrow.
We saw Dagny today. She was quite tired, and did not respond to us being there. There was no tail wagging, or perking up. I hope that mentally she is still the same dog. She did have surgery today, and before we arrived had been taken on a "towel walk" and ate, perhaps she was just exhausted from her day. She should get to come on on Thursday. I hope our dog gets back to her good ol' self soon. I also have to find a way to contain the dogs, so this never happens again.

Today was a busy day. Caleb and Alex both had their eyes checked out, 20/20 vision for both of them. We had lunch at Sonic with Amanda. It is a nice place for the kids to run around and burn off some of their energy. A lot of cleaning was done at home, and a yummy dinner was prepared, following one of Emeril's recipes. Our night concluded with a bit of Mario Kart. I, of course, was not victorious, again, my lack of practicing is not helping.
Dagny is reported to be stable, and will under go surgery tomorrow. We will send our our possitive energy, and hope for a sucessful surgery and very quick recovery.

Dagny was hit by a car today. She has run off two or three other times, but we always find her. Today, she got hit. We didn't find her in time. Alex spotted her out on the highway, and a neighbor told Jared he saw her run into the weeds. We rushed her to the vet. Word is now, that she should make it. Her back legs are quite messed up, and it will cost $2000 to fix. Caleb was so excited that his dog will be ok. How can we not pay that money. Is her life not worth that. So, we are doing it. Our $2000 dog will have surgery tomorrow. Jonas is planning on giving her some treats when she gets home.
We watched old home movies. Our kids had pretty much the same personality 6 years ago as they do now. Very interesting. Caleb didn't answer us when we talked to him then, and he still doesn't. He still thinks over everything we say before responding.

Today Jonas "killed" me with his light saber, then told Jared "I killed my mom, now YOU'RE in charge".

The kids got to play in the pool one last time, before giving the water to the thirsty plants. We took a trip into town today, and each kid got 50 cents to spend at Dara's, however they wished, they all really enjoyed the freedom of money.
We raced on Mario Kart tonight. I just can't quite beat Jared ever, and Alex is getting better and better, and beating me more often. My lack of practicing is catching up to me.
Caleb was given the challenge of making brownies for dinner. He had to read the directions in order to come up with some yummy delicious treats. I feel it was a very ingenious way to get him to read, and not just guess the words.
We had another round of Boom-O tonight before bedtime. I was out first. Poor me.

I know video games are suppose to rot the kids' brains, but it is so cute watching Jonas twist and turn with his kart, playing with his yellow controller.
Caleb is thinking about a training program that will allow him to be the fastest player on his flag football team. He didn't make it much further than putting on his shoes though.
We played boom-O again tonight. It is a nice way to wind down for the night, a game of cards. Unfortunately, someone has to loose. Tonight, Caleb was the winner.
