Reading
Eragon. The fourth in the series comes out in October. My copy of this book is lost in the depths of one of the boys' room, with no hope of being found. I just checked out a different copy.
Thinking
We are lucky to have three healthy boys. I take it for granted.
Wanting
Our house to sell. Please buy our house.
Listening
I am too lazy to put in a cd, or listen to my ipod. I pretty much listen to the 101.1. Daily.

Lack of photos
I have been slacking on taking photos. I haven't gotten out my camera since the first day of school. Before that, it was vacation. I use to take tons of random, day to day photos. I uploaded them to the internet, and blogged about them. Now, with dial up, I cannot upload. Therefore, I have stopped taking photos.
I am living in a beautiful location. I should photograph it more. I am constantly admiring the contrast of the green grass, with the brown bales of hay, the green soybeans, the yellowing corn, the blue sky, and the cows. But, I don't photograph them. I really should. I should also document our fascinating lives. We play badminton in the evening. We sometimes play cards, after everyone is ready for bed. The boys build amazing things out of legos, and have battles involving lego roller coasters versus catapults. I can't claim to understand it, but I should photograph it. The teenager might scowl at me, but I should do it anyway. The boys practice music daily. I should document this.
I get caught up in being busy though. Getting ready for work, getting three tired boys ready for school. Breakfast, packing lunches, driving to school, turning around halfway there, because someone forgot their homework. Coming home, cooking dinner, taking care of the trash. Sitting down for five minutes, then gladly getting up to go play the before mentioned badminton. Always moving.
I get caught up worrying about money, houses selling, making sure the boys have a solid, worry free childhood. Band instruments needing purchased, birthdays coming up. But, in the grand scheme of things, we have it pretty good. We have our health. We have a house to live in. We have food to eat. We have family. We are pretty lucky.
Why should I worry about petty things. I should enjoy the beauty of life, and take more photos instead.

Amazing
How amazing is it, that we can climb into a metal box with wheels, sit in comfy seats, and a couple hours later be in a different state visiting family. Really, no time at all. We are there. Visiting. Enjoying.
We spent the weekend in Manhattan, because the boys cannot get enough grandparent time. We are beyond blessed with the relationship these boys have with all of their grandparents. I know not every kid is this lucky.

Vacation 2010, Day Five. Football football football
Football was the theme of the day. Lots and lots of football. I will say, that the museum was very well put together. It was a bit pricey, but I could see where my money was going. It was a nice place. It was filled with football history and football fans. There was a kinship felt, between these people, who love the sport. Many of the tourists were wearing their teams shirts. Football was discussed between the guests. Perfect strangers discussing the sport they love.
My boys love the Chiefs.
The room they wanted to see the most.
We went to see some football field. I am told important games are played here. The presentation was boring, so we didn't listen to it. Even Jared thought it was boring. That is saying something.
One last pose, in front of the building.
Then, we went to something a bit more girly. The National First Ladies Library. This tour included the library and the home of Ida McKinley. I love looking at old homes, heck, I like looking at new homes. But, this was a very interesting tour. The tour guide was a retired school teacher. She told us, that this was the "other" NFL in Canton. She was so impressed with the boys' behavior on this tour, that she gave them each a book. They each got a different book, about the White House, Presidents, President's kids, ect, so they could share. It was an excellent tour.
We ended our night with White Castle. There are no White Castles in our area. Only in the frozen food section. We all loved it, loved it a bit too much, ate too much.
Another swim in the pool. Another fun vacation day.

Seven years
Seven years ago, we had three little boys. We watched Blues Clues and Veggietales. We went to the zoo probably once a week. We were regulars at the local playground.
I got my drivers license renewed yesterday. It is good for seven years. In seven years Caleb will be in college. Alex will be freshly graduate from high school. Jonas will have his learner permit. Wow. Seven years. It doesn't seem like that long. I better enjoy it!

Cousins galore
This weekend is being filled with family. Tons of it. We currenly have six sleeping kids in our house, which is amazing, as one hour ago Jared was being pelted with nerf bullets.
Tomorrow we head to see my grandparents and celebrate their 75 years of marriage, along with my grandpa's 97th birthday.
Family is good.

Weekend recap
We got to go to manhattan this weekend. It was country stampede weekend. The one thing I was excited to leave... And we were back. But we avoided it, so all was good.
We got to play with cheryl's new puppy. Everyone loves a puppy. He was adorable, soft and so very friendly. We had a great visit with Gary and Cheryl. It had been too long, and we missed seeing them. Every weekend the boys would ask if we got to go see grandma and granddad . I would say no, and they would give me a sad face. I am glad we got out there.
We then went to my uncle jim's retirement party. I enjoy family so much. It was delightful. We laughed hard with my cousin, played with the little girls and enjoyed visiting.
On our way home, we visited rare and unusual sites. That is an exciting post all by it's self.
A very good weekend.

Life lessons
I learned a few things Wednesday evening.
*side note. Everyone and everything is fine. The fire went out. Dinner was still served. Jared was even kind, and didn't make fun of the fact that this meal caused TWO smoke detectors to go off. A new record.

Finishing School
The above photo is one of my favorite photos of my grandparents. It sums them up so well. Music, laughter, love.
So, for those that don't know, my grandparents moved into an assisted living apartment in October. It wasn't the easiest thing, emotionally for anyone involved, as we watched them move out of their home of 60 some years, but after visiting them, I at least, am much more comfortable. Their apartment is like a miniature version of their house. I would *love* to just move their house onto our land to live in. It's one of my favorite places in the world.
Anyway, that is not the point of this post. My grandparents put together a Christmas card for the staff of their home. The first draft had it addressed "To the staff and students at Hillcrest Finishing School". My grandma thought it was a bit tasteless, I think. Grandpa just laughed and laughed as he told the story.
This past week, Grandpa spent a couple days in the hospital. I went to visit him, and one of my aunts happened to be there. A nurse came in, and Grandpa really went all out, telling story after story.. quick one liners...
Like.. "My wife will never be able to keep up, now that I know how much attention I'm suppose to be getting." And. "My wife's in much better shape then me. She's a lot younger though, just 92. She's just a kid." AND. "I did good on Valentine's Day. I got her a BIG rose, and she was very nice to me for two whole days." The nurse asked.. "what happened after two days?" Grandpa replied "The rose wilted." Finally, he told her "If they believe the lie, it isn't a sin. I think that's Shakespeare, either that or Hillary Clinton."
The nurse then asked where he was living. He told her "Hillcrest Finishing School" My aunt and I started snickering in the background. It took the nurse about a half a second, then the look of shock on her face, as she figured out what Grandpa was saying... It was priceless. Then, Grandpa started laughing so hard, I think I saw tears. My aunt and I laughed a bit harder, and the nurse then cracked up. The look though. If only you could of seen the look.
